Even though a State of the Union Address only comes once every four years, it’s a great excuse for a GREAT all-American hamburger!
This is a simple recipe; the key is good ingredients.
Broil hamburger patties from the best beef; I prefer Mibek.
Warm wonderful whole wheat or yeast buns and set aside.
To assemble your burger:
Put a dab of ketchup on each side of the sliced bun. Place a hamburger patty and top with a dab of mayo and a squirt of spicy brown mustard. Top with thin-sliced cherry tomatoes, small, tender spinach leaves, freshly washed and dried, and a teaspoon of bleu cheese, preferably Clemson. Top with thinly-sliced red onion and a single bread and butter pickle. Add the bun top and serve warm.
With what? With nothing! You’re gonna want another hamburger before it’s over with.
For desert, celebrate democracy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream, a cherry, and if you have it, a tiny U.S. flag.
It doesn’t matter which party you’re for; this IS the party!
